Calgary Biking Infographic

Project Type: Coursework

Roles: Information Design, Graphic Design, Writing

Software: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign

In my Introduction to Digital Layout course, we partnered with the Liveable Streets Division of Transportation Planning at the City of Calgary. Using the data they provided, I compiled, organized and designed an infographic which showed the main reasons why or why not Calgarians choose to bike and when they do so. The purpose of the poster was to help the general public understand the issue of how weather effects the ridership of Calgarians, as related to the cycle tracks. At first I found it overwhelming to work with such huge amounts of data. I realized that it was much easier to organize the relevant data once I found a purpose for it, and once I realized exactly what it was I needed to communicate to the intended audience.
